  2. All articles have been subjected to peer review administered by the proceeding editors.

Plagiarism

Proper credit must be expressed in quoting or using the work of other scholars by citing them and enlist their works on the reference section. The style of citation may vary from series to series. Verbatim quotation is strongly discouraged as it can be easily detected through similarity software such as iThenticate. A better quotation should contain not only a piece of idea embodied in a specific work or a simple paraphrase, but also composed in a thoughtful and interpretative manner.

Quoting from community-based sources is also discouraged as their authorships can be challenged and do not reflect an authenticity. Community-based means anyone can contribute and change existing entries. Thus, they are prone to fabrication. This is the case in Wikipedia, forums and the like. The UGM Digital Press can condone this type of source if only author specifically mention its source and that they wish to faithfully quote the community-based sources.

The UGM Digital Press utilizes iThenticate and Turnitin as part of the preliminary assessment before publication. The way they work is that it will scan for similarity by cross-checking the world-wide web database of any written source that has ever been published. The similarity index rate will assist in editing process at the UGM Digital Press and determine whether a manuscript may content a potential plagiarism act.

The aim of this frequent correspondence is certainly to produce high-quality proceedings that are ethical, accurate and relevant to the merit that is set by conference organizers as well as the UGM Digital Press.

In decision-making process, Conference editorial committee must be free from any bias or anything that entails self-interest sentiment. Thus, it will reflect academic inclusivity and espouse productivity in their own academic society, particularly at Universitas Gadjah Mada and other affiliated institutions.
